Conversion of a 78 key hotel into a 244 bed co living co working environment.

The project’s aim was to re-purpose an existing hotel as a co-living co working environment, affordable to international travelers, backpackers, school parties, and local free spirits alike.  The facilities are extensive with the lower 3 floors dedicated to communal facilities.  The ground floor is intended for living / lounging / reception as well as providing breakfast, snacks and drinks throughout the day.  It also acts as a social hub to host a variety of activities… from art jams to craft beer tasting.  The first floor incorporates a 24 hour lounge with quiet skype pods, a photobooth and movie room.  Upstairs there is a communal kitchen, self-service laundry, luggage room and valuables lockers.  Sleeping arrangements are similarly diverse… one can book a deluxe queen room for 2p or take a bed within dorm rooms ranging from 3p, 8p or 14p.

Our favourite aspect is the “party floor” on the 5th which allows for groups of 14 people to share their own space as well as a sizeable external balcony.  Mojo Nomad also has a number of “women only” floors which is cool for women travelling alone or in small groups.

Mojo Nomad brings a European style backpacker’s hostel vibe to a city that demands high standards of service, diversity of facilities and value for money….. Maybe this is the only hospitality venue in Hong Kong that ticks all three boxes.

The locale is an old district of town dominated by the Aberdeen Fish market and the Harbour it sustains.  The area therefore has a slightly edgy feel which suites Mojo Nomad down to the ground… already one can see new barrista bars, art galleries and startups moving into the area, combining well with the old dai pa dongs, fruit stalls and grocery stores.  Mojo Nomad will help breathe new life into a district that’s already re-inventing itself.
