This project was the first of a new brand of low budget Serviced Apartments set up by the Fraser Group, Singapore. Their target market was specifically young business travellers on short to medium term stays; professionals looking for a stylish business hotel, complete with restaurant, gym and self service laundry.
A précis of the project follows:
-
Modena Putuo Shanghai consists of 348 suites, all of which are duplexes.
-
There are 7 apartment types ranging from studios to 2 bed apartments.
-
Each apartment is designed around a generously sized Living Room, each with either a balcony or double height space.
-
Bedroom platforms are suspended from the ceiling by means of lightweight structures, allowing views into the Kitchen Diners or Studies below.
-
Spatially, the apartments are designed to bring in natural daylight back to the front door, with views that visually open up into a complex of compressed and expanded space.
-
Plenty of concealed storage, everywhere.
-
Low energy A/C systems, LED & compact fluorescent lighting.
-
Compact kitchen diners fitted with huge fridges.
-
iPod friendly sound systems.
-
Glass enclosed bathrooms with generous shower areas and good quality sanitaryware.
-
Abundant artwork specially commissioned from Simon Birch.
