Expanding to the Middle-East: Al Bāb Development Company

KplusK are pleased to announce the establishment of a new joint venture registered company in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, the Al Bāb Development Company. The stated aims of Al Bāb Development Company are to facilitate the realization of World class buildings in Riyadh

Al Bāb aims to benefit from the wealth of experience and know-how of its two founding partners, Johnny Kember and Faisal Altuwaim.

In JK’s case, this means the 30+ years of experience as an Architect and masterplanner, and as the founder and Director of Architecture of KplusK associates which has provided him with global expertise in the following:

Masterplanning of Residential, Hotel resort, integrated sustainable community developments, Sports Infrastructure and inner-City masterplans.

Architectural design of all Building typologies, in particular High-rise buildings, luxury and sustainable Residential design, Hotels and resorts.

Out-of-the-box thinking for sustainable Developments worldwide.

Working with developers in 12 different countries has given JK quantifiable exposure to the mechanism of development and how to maximize potential of any particular site, from a global standpoint, not local.

In Faisal’s case, his relevant experience is as follows:

Holding the CEO position in the highly successful Oaktree Hospitality group (“OHG”) has given him a great deal of local knowledge in conducting successful business in KSA, managing business relationships, and the translation of ideas into realized projects in the field of Hospitality in KSA. His focus has been to be a disruptor, and not a follower.

Faisal’s background as an M&A lawyer also creates a firm platform for Al Bāb to apply for and achieve funding for projects with real estate funds, private equity investors and Family offices.  His experience means that Al Bāb will have a seasoned lawyer and negotiator to navigate the appropriate legal frameworks for investment, and the legal constructs for the development of sites.
